Taking Time for Mom

Having a special needs child is a life long battle that many deal with from day to day. Sometimes it can be overwhelming and the daily grind of dealing with a child with special needs can take its toll. Therefore, Moms must take time for themselves to recharge their batteries and unwind.

Do not feel guilty about taking a much needed break from time to time. You deserve it. Find what helps you relax and do it. It will help rejuvenate your mind and body so you can cope. Your body will thank you for it and your family will too. It will restore your sanity and you will also be much more pleasant to be around. :)

I try, but it's hard. LOL!

It IS hard! I've been going to bed earlier, which helps so much, especially since I've given up coffee...but now I have less "me time". My big thing is realizing that I DO need to relax and let some things go sometimes and not to feel so GUILTY about it.

Julie-
It is hard! My father had a massive stroke a few years back and my mom is having a hard time with him. She feels guilty when she takes time for herself too.

My hubby travels extensively so MONK usually only has me. I'm lucky I don't have to work so I can deal with all of this from day to day, but I still need to take time for myself when things get overwhelming. :)

Yes. :) This has been (and still is) something I struggle with because I also want to bless my family. Often that means NOT being selfish, but I'm learning that some things DO need to be MY WAY or I just can't function...and when Mommy can't function everything goes to pieces! I'm traveling an interesting road for sure! :)
