Top 10 College Dorm Room Must Haves

What can’t you live without while living in a dorm? What items do you need most? After going to college and surfing the internet, here is the list of what you MUST have:

1. Shower caddy- Great to store bathroom items in and be able to carry them easily to the bathroom.

2. Colorful comforter/duvet- Protects your sheets and it really brightens up your room. The whole décor depends upon the comforter/duvet. You can buy items that coordinate with your color scheme and everything will then go together and look great.

3. Under the bed storage boxes- Since dorm rooms are notoriously small and storage is limited, under the bed storage boxes save you lots of space and also gets some of your clutter out of sight. If your bed is not adjustable, you can use bed risers to lift up your bed.

4. Shower flip flops- Sharing a shower? Flip-flops are a must if you’re living in a dorm. Slip them on when you're going to take a shower or going down to the basement to do laundry. You can even throw them on when you go down the hall to see your friends.

5. Posters- They brighten up your drab walls and really shows off your true personality.

6. Footlocker- Store off season clothes in your footlocker. Rotate your clothes from the closet and dresser depending on the season.

7. Desk lamp- Most universities do not provide these. Be sure to get a desk lamp that isn’t halogen (halogen lamps are not allowed in dorms).

8. Extension cord power strip/surge protector- Between your computer, printer, alarm clock, cell phone charger, and lamps (not to mention hairdryers and curling irons), there are a ton of electronics plugged in a dorm room and not many plugs to plug them into.

9. Command hooks and wall saver removable poster putty or strips- Hang posters and what-not without damaging the walls.

10. Alarm clock with back up battery- Even if the electricity goes off you will get to class on time. Remember that your alarm on your cell phone won’t work if it isn’t charged up.
